Abanob Sobhi, RP (Qualifying)
Hello, I’m Abanob, a registered psychotherapist (qualifying). I am a big believer in the power of dialogue. Trained in such areas as cognitive behavioural therapy, Rogerian therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy techniques, among others, I strive to tailor my interventions to your particular needs.
Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, fear, trauma, or are facing more practical issues such as life transitions or professional concerns, I will work collaboratively with you to help you achieve your goals.
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Guelph, and a master’s degree in counselling psychology from Yorkville University. I am always looking forward to adding to my therapeutic toolkit.
A large focus of my approach is to dig as deeply as possible in order to discover the root of the issue. This can involve challenging discussions, but I believe that it is through facing the more painful aspects of our past that we can more effectively confront the future.
Beyond being a psychotherapist, I also have experience as a client of psychotherapy myself. I went through a period of difficulty in my past, and with the help of a great therapist, I was able to make significant changes in my life. As a result, I feel that I have first-hand knowledge of the stigma and challenges that are at times associated with seeking support, and I would be pleased to have the opportunity to provide you with the same help that I made good use of in the past.
